About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Swanbank Power Station Production Superintendent, the Operator Maintainer plays a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of the station by performing both maintenance and operational duties. This dual-role position involves routine and breakdown maintenance, plant operation, and emergency response, while rotating through a 24/7 shift roster to meet production demands.
This is a 2-year maximum term contract that works a 24/7 Operations shift roster with times on a Maintenance Monday to Thursday 36.25-hour roster.
Key responsibilities:
- Health, safety and environment strategy and delivery: promote a safe work environment through risk management, incident reporting, and adherence to Safe Work Systems.
- Maintenance and outage management delivery: deliver preventative and corrective maintenance, support outages, and ensure plant reliability through safe, efficient work practices.
- Operation management and unit monitoring: operate and monitor plant systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance, including shift work and emergency response duties.
- Building working relationships and stakeholder management: collaborate with teams, support continuous improvement, and maintain technical competence through training and effective communication.
About you
- Must hold a recognised trade certificate – electrical or mechanical.
- Has obtained an Advanced Boiler and Steam Turbine Operator High Risk Work Licence.
- Holds a valid manual Driver’s Licence (C Class).
- Strong understanding of Safe Work Systems and isolation protocols.
- Skilled in troubleshooting plant equipment and system failures.
- Proficient with computerised maintenance management systems.
- Solid knowledge of plant systems, water chemistry, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Strong ability to quickly learn new processes and technologies, and to adapt to changes in sequences and timelines.
- Ability to apply strong problem-solving competency to complex challenges.
- Ability to build strong relationships both internally within the Station and with key stakeholders and with external providers.
