About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join the CleanCo team at Barron Gorge Power Station in Cairns.  This is a 4-year fixed term contract and will provide an exceptional opportunity to learn a technical trade and contribute to the delivery of CleanCo’s program of planned maintenance across Barron Gorge Power Station.  

You will achieve this through the application of learned skills and by assisting in the delivery of planned preventative maintenance to ensure that CleanCo operates highly reliable renewable generation.

The successful candidate will complete both on and off the job training including TAFE study blocks to achieve a Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical, while developing work skills and experience supported by ongoing mentoring and coaching.

About you

•    You are committed to undertaking and successfully completing a Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical (4-year course) and are eager to apply these skills learnt, each day on an operating site.
•    Essential to your success (minimum requirements) is completion (or currently completing) year 11 with satisfactory results in both Math & English along with a valid drivers’ licence (learners or provisional stage acceptable). 
•    You are naturally motivated, mechanically minded, and have a strong commitment to safety. 
•    You are eager to learn, and not afraid to ask questions or for guidance when required.
•    You have a passion to be part of something bigger than yourself, that contributes to the delivery of renewable, reliable and affordable energy for Queensland.
